Tiger Woods

Born on 30th December 1975, Eldrick Tont "Tiger" Woods is a prominent American Golfer, listed amongst the most successful athletes of the world. Woods has been ranked as world's No.1 golfer for most consecutive weeks and is the second golfer (first being Jack Nicklaus) who won a career Grand Slam three times. Woods has achieved many accolades in his professional golf career, breaking several records and making new ones.

A brief account of his major encompassments is given here:-

• Tiger has won 15 major professional golf championships (only behind Jack Nicklaus, who leads with 18), 82 PGA Tour events (tied with Sam Snead), 41 European tours and 3 Japan Golf Tours. He leads all active golfers in major career victories and victories on the PGA Tour.
• In 1996, he was named as the "Sportsman of the Year" and "PGA Tour Rookie of the Year" by "Sports Illustrated". 
• In 1997, Woods won his first Masters Tournament by 12 strokes and top-ranked the world golf ranking.
• Woods was conferred with the title of the "Player of the Year" for 11 times in between 1997-2013 which is one of his records in the history of golf.
• Besides Rory McIlroy, he is the only golfer in the history who has won both the gold as well as the silver medal at the Open Championship.
• Woods has won the Byron Nelson Award for the lowest adjusted average score for a record eight times.
• He is the youngest golfer to achieve the career Grand Slam, and the second golfer (after Nicklaus) to achieve the career Grand Slam three times.
• Upon his return to regular competition, Woods made steady progress to the top of the game by winning his first tournament in five years at the 2018 Tour Championship and his first major victory in 11 years at the 2019 Masters.
• Woods has won 18 World Golf Championship. In May 2019, he was bestowed on the Presidential Medal of Freedom and became only the fourth golfer to receive the honour.
