Sir Garfield Sobers

Sir Garfield St Aubrun Sobers, born on 28^th July 1936 in Bridgetown, Barbados, is a well-known former cricketer internationally considered as the greatest all-rounder. He is the first batsman in the history of cricket who hit six sixes in a single over in first-class cricket.

Here are some of his significant achievements:-

• Sir Gary Sobers is the youngest batsman to score a triple century in a Test match.
• He has the fourth highest batting average in Test cricket among cricketers who have scored more than 5,000 runs. 
• In 1975, he was honoured with the knighthood for his best services to the sport.
• In 1998, he was elected as one of the "Ten National Heroes" of Barbados.
• Sir Sobers adorned his achievement record by receiving the "Wisden Cricketer of the Year" in 1964 and the “Wisden Cricketer of the Century" in 2000.
• In 2004, ICC honoured Sir Gary Sobers by inaugurating “Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy” which is awarded to ICC Player of the Year for his astounding performance in cricket events.
