Hailing from the Dhar city of Madhya Pradesh, Sameer Verma is a badminton player from India. He got the inspiration to play badminton from his brother Sourabh Verma, who is a prominent badminton player. Sameer started playing badminton from a very young age and joined the Gopichand Badminton Academy to train under the guidance of Pullela Gopichand.
A glimpse of some of his career achievements:
- Won the bronze medal in the boys’ singles event at the 2011 BWF World Junior Championship
- Clinched a silver and a bronze medal in boys’ singles and mixed team events, respectively at the 2011 Badminton Asia Junior Championship and a bronze medal in the 2012 edition of the event
- Bagged the titles of Bahrain International Series and Bahrain International Challenge in the men’s singles event in 2013
- Won the 2017 Syed Modi International Badminton Championship by defeating the fellow countryman Sai Praneeth in the final by 21-19 21-16
- Bagged the titles of Syed Modi International (Super 300), Hyderabad Open (Super 100) and Swiss Open (Super 300) in 2018 in the men’s singles event
