George Best

George Best was a legendary footballer from Northern Ireland, born on May 22, 1946. Renowned for his exceptional skill and flair on the field, Best played primarily as a winger for Manchester United and the Northern Ireland national team. He captivated audiences with his dribbling, agility, and goal-scoring ability, earning the nickname "the Fifth Beatle" for his celebrity status. Best won numerous awards, including the Ballon d'Or, and played a pivotal role in Manchester United's success in the 1960s. • Named the European Footballer of the Year and FWA (Football Writers’ Association) Footballer of the Year after winning the 1968 European Cup with Manchester United at the Wembley Stadium, London
• Won the Ballon d’Or (Golden Ball) presented by France Football in 1968
• In the year 1999, he was placed at the 8th position in the ranking of World Soccer’s 100 greatest football players of the 20th century
• Honored with the PFA Merit Award in 2006 and PFA Tribute Award in 2007
• Honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award with a title of BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2002
