Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik, born on June 1, 1985, is an Indian cricketer known for his versatility as a wicketkeeper-batsman. Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Karthik made his international debut in 2004 and has since been a prominent figure in Indian cricket. He has represented the Indian cricket team across all formats, showcasing his skills behind the stumps and with the bat. Karthik has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket as well, leading various teams and earning accolades for his leadership and batting prowess. With his agility, technique, and adaptability, Karthik has left a lasting impact on the Indian cricketing landscape.

Major Achievements:-

• Made his first-class debut in 2002 and scored 179 runs at an average of 35.80. His top score was 88* against the team of Utter Pradesh.
• Scored 438 runs at an average of 43.80 including two centuries in the Ranji Trophy season 2003-04 and also showed his knack in fielding with 20 catches. In the semi-final of the season against the Railways, he scored his maiden first-class century and also summed up an unbeaten 109 runs against the team of Mumbai in the final.
• Scored two half-centuries during India A tour to Zimbabwe in 2004
• Selected as the Captain of the India A Cricket Team for the 2018-19 Deodhar Trophy tournament
• Featured in the four-match ODI series against the West Indies in 2007 and accumulated 63 after India's recovery from 35/3 and aided the team to emerge as the winner, receiving his first Man of the Match title
• Recalled in the Indian cricket squad for the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, following an impressive domestic and IPL season, and scored back to back centuries in the two warm-up games
• Substituted injured Wriddhiman Saha for the third Test of the 2017-18 India Tour of South Africa and named in the Indian squad to play in the Nidahas Trophy. Karthik played an unbeaten 29 off 8 balls against the team of Bangladesh in the final match, eventually aiding the team at the eleventh hour with his impressive and victorious six when the team just needed five runs and credited the winning shot of the tournament to his name.
