His current career-high ATP singles ranking is world No. 4 as of January 2021, which he achieved on 9 September 2019. Medvedev achieved a career breakthrough in 2019, when he entered into six consecutive tournament finals, including the 2019 US Open. His biggest career achievement came at the 2020 ATP Finals, where he defeated world number 01, 02 and 03 as he first fought with Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in route to the final, and then he defeated Dominic Thiem for ATP Finals title.
