Arunima Sinha

Born on 20th July 1989, Arunima Sinha is an Indian Mountaineer who is the world's first female amputee to summit Mount Everest and other highest peaks of different continents. With an aim to climb each of the continents' highest peaks, she hoisted the national flag of India at the Mt Everest, Mt Kilimanjaro, Mt Elbrus, Mt Kosciuszko, Mt Aconcagua, Mt Carstensz Pyramid and Mt Vinson.

Some of her major career achievements -

• Became world's first female amputee to scale the world’s highest mountain Mt Everest (8,848 m) on 21^st May 2013.
• Conquered Africa’s tallest peak Mt Kilimanjaro (5,895m) on 11^th May 2014 which is located in Tanzania.
• Successfully summited Mt Elbrus (5,642 m) of Russia on 25^th July 2014.
• Authored a book called “Born again on the mountain”, which was launched by Indian PM Narendra Modi in December 2014.
• Scaled the highest mountain of Australia, Mt Kosciuszko (2,228 m) on 20^th April 2015.
• Honoured with the Padma Shri Award in 2015, the fourth highest civilian award of India.
• Bestowed with the Tenzing Norgay Highest Mountaineering Award in 2015.
• Climbed Argentina’s highest peak, Mt Aconcagua (6,962 m) on 25^th December 2015.
• Conquered Indonesia’s tallest pyramid peak, Mt Carstensz Pyramid (4,884 m) on 8^th July 2016.
• Entitled as one of the People of the Year by Limca Book of Records in 2016.
• Honoured with the First Lady Award in 2016.
• In 1^st January 2019, she completed her final summit of Antarctica’s highest peak, Mt Vinson (4,892m).
