Anshu Malik

Hailing from the Nidani village of Haryana, Anshu Malik is a freestyle wrestler from India. Coming from a family of wrestlers, she began practising the sport at the age of 11, watching her brother practising the moves. Her father Dharamvir Malik was a part of the Indian junior wrestling team, and uncle Pawan Malik is a South Asian Games gold medallist.

Anshu aims to compete at the Olympics and gets full support from her family. She trains under the guidance of Coach Jagdish Sheoran at the Chaudhary Bharat Singh Memorial Sports School.

Here is a glimpse of some of her major career achievements:

• Earned the Tokyo 2020 Olympic quota by winning the silver medal at the 2021 Asian Wrestling Qualification Tournament in the women’s 57 kg event
• Secured the gold medal in 2021 and the bronze medal in 2020 at the Asian Wrestling Championships in 57 kg event
• Bagged the silver medal in the 57 kg category at the Individual Wrestling World Cup 2020
• Earned the gold medal in the 59 kg category at the 2019 Asian Junior Wrestling Championships
• Won the silver medal at the 2018 World Junior Wrestling Championships in the 59 kg category
• Bagged the gold medal in 2017 and bronze medals in 2016 and 2018 World Cadet Wrestling Championships
