Anatoly Karpov

Anatoly Karpov, born on May 23, 1951, is a chess grandmaster from Russia. He became the World Chess Champion in 1975 after Bobby Fischer forfeited the title. Karpov defended his title successfully multiple times and remained a dominant force in the chess world for decades.
