Emil Zatopek was born on 19th September 1922. He was a gold medalist long-distance runner from Czechoslovak. He was considered as one of the greatest runners of the 20th century and his brutally tough training methods were well known.
Won gold in 10,000 meters and silver in 5,000 meters in the 1948 London Olympic Games
Won a gold medal in European Athletics Championships, held in Brussels in 1950 for the 5,000 meters run and 10000 meters run
Won three gold medals at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki for 5000 meters, 10000 meters and the Marathon repectively
Was awarded the Pierre de Coubertin medal in 2000
His name was inducted into the IAAF Hall Of Fame in 2012.
