The Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium or the New VCA stadium is a cricket ground, situated in the city of Nagpur, Maharashtra, India which was built in the year 2008. It replaced the Vidarbha Cricket Association ground, which was the main ground in the city. The stadium has four stands altogether. The West and East stands are open to air stands and come with two tiers. The North stand comes with three tiers and houses the Commercial box, Secretary’s Box, Presidents Room, Boardrooms Security Central, and others. The South stand also has three tiers that constitute the players pavilion, media room, and players’ gym.

Trivia

The first international match was played on this ground between Australia and India in 2008.
India played 4 Test matches at the venue in 2012 out of which two matches were won by India while one ended up with a draw.

Significance

Sachin Tendulkar’s comeback in 2005 after an elbow injury contributed greatly in the defeat of Sri Lanka, leading by 1-0 in a seven-match One-day series.
Hashim Amla from South Africa recorded the highest individual score (253) at this ground against India in a Test match in 2010.
Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara scored 78 off 37 balls leading his team to a 29-run victory over India in a T-20 International match, held in December 2009.
The first recorded international Test was held in the year of 1969, featuring India vs. New Zealand, and the first ODI was held in the year of 1985 where India played against England.
India has won 2 out of 4 ODIs played at this venue against Australia. In the first match which was held in 2009, India won by 99 runs. The second match was conducted in the year 2013.
