Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium (now known as Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium) is a cricket venue located in the Gahunje, Maharashtra, India. It was completed in March 2012 at the cost of Rs. 1.50 billion that is spread in an area of 35 acres and is maintained by Maharashtra Cricket Association. It has hosted a few One Day Internationals and T-20 matches apart from matches of Indian Premier League and National Trophy. It is the home stadium of Indian Cricket Team, Rising Pune Supergiants, Maharashtra Cricket Team and Veer Marathi. The stadium is designed by Hopkins Architects, an English architecture company. It is now known as Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. The stadium was estimated to complete by 2010 with a capacity of 55,000, but construction and other issues delayed it by two years. At present, it has 37,000 seats. The stadium's signature feature is the rainwater drainage system which is a sand-based outfield. It drains out water on the field fast, making it ready to play in lesser time. Also, the seating arrangement is designed in such a way that it provides an unobstructed view from any spectator location.

Trivia

In 2013, Indian company Sahara Indian Pariwar bought the naming rights to the stadium for an amount of Rs. 200 Crore. However, the name was again changed to MCA Pune stadium as Sahara failed to pay the total amount proposed.
It is the latest cricket stadium in India, ranked as one of the most cutting-edge cricket stadia of the country.
The stadium is located next to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, just outside Pune with a beautiful view of the surrounding hill range.

Significance

It was inaugurated in 2012 by the then ICC President Sharad Pawar.
It hosted its first One Day International in 2013 between arch rivals India and Australia.
It hosted its first T-20 in 2012 played between India and England.
In 2012, the stadium hosted its first match (IPL) between Kings XI Punjab and Pune Warriors.
