Sports Name of the Year is an accolade presented to the most successful sportsperson or team of Denmark concerning their sporting performance in the given year. This award is granted by the National Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation of Denmark and the daily newspaper Jyllands-Posten. The honour was first bestowed in 1991 to the Danish swimmer Mette Jacobsen. 50,000 Danish kroner are awarded to the winner.
