Officially known as Saint-Petersburg Stadium, Krestovsky stadium is a famous football arena, located in the western portion of Krestovsky Island in Saint Petersburg. It was opened in 2017 to host the FIFA Confederations Cup and has been selected to host the FIFA World Cup matches of 2018. The stadium is also known as Zenit Arena. The design of the stadium is inspired by the Toyota Stadium in Japan. It was constructed on the site of Kirov Stadium which was demolished in September 2006. The stadium has a retractable roof.
The stadium hosted its first official match of Russian Premier League between FC Zenit Saint Petersburg and FC Ural on 22nd April 2017.
It has witnessed the Group A as well as the final match of FIFA Confederations Cup in 2017. The final match was the most attended match of the tournament.
