To celebrate the 100 days before Winter Olympics and Paralympics of 2014, the Central Bank of Russia issued a 100 Ruble note with Blue Tinted color, featuring the stadium on one side.
Fisht Olympic Stadium is an open air stadium in Russia, named after the great mountain 'Mount Fisht'. It was inaugurated in 2013 and owned by the Government of Russia. The architectural firms involved in designing the structure of the stadium are Populous and Buro Happold. The uniqueness in the design of this stadium is the 'snowy peak' like roof, made by ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE). The stadium is constructed in such a way that one can actually see the Krasnaya Polyana Mountains in the north and from South, the Black Sea can be viewed.
Zhemchuzhina is the local team here that has hosted many matches at the stadium.
The stadium has been chosen as one of the venues to host the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2017 and the FIFA World Cup in 2018.
An estimated amount of US $779 million was invested in the construction to build the stadium.
