CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores is a much-publicized international club football championship, held in South America. Founded in the year 1960, it is organized by the association of CONMEBOL. The tournament is designated so in honor of the Libertadores (Liberators, the heroes of South American Liberation), sponsored by multinational companies amongst which Bridgestone Corporation is the leading one. Hence, the competition is also known as CONMEBOL Libertadores Bridgestone. This game plays a very crucial role in South American’s culture.
