ICC introduces the first-ever Awards of the Decade: Kohli, Dhoni nominated

https://sportsmatik.com/sports-stars/ab-de-villiers/MTE4Nw--The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced a new set of awards on Tuesday as they released the list of nominations for the first-ever ICC Awards of the Decade. In this set, they have nominated several players who have dominated in different cricket formats during the last 10 years.

Indian Skipper Virat Kohli, who missed out on the ICC annual awards earlier this year, has dominated the nominations. Widely considered the best batsman of this generation, Kohli has earned up to five nominations. He is nominated for the topmost category which is the ICC Player of the Decade, as well as the ODI, T20I, Test Player of the Decade, and also in the Spirit of Cricket award category.

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has also been nominated for the ICC Men's Player of the Decade Award.

In other categories, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni are the other players from India who received nominations in their names. Indian women's cricket stalwarts Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami have also been featured in the nomination list.

Apart from these, England Test captain Joe Root, Australia's Steve Smith, South African batsman AB de Villiers, New Zealand's Kane Williamson and former Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara have also been nominated for the awards.
