Globe Soccer Awards 2020: Ronaldo crowned Player of the Century, Lewandowski won Player of the Year

The Globe Soccer Awards aka the Dubai d’Ors 2020 were announced on Sunday in a gala awards ceremony held at Armani Hotel in Dubai to honour the best soccer players, coaches, clubs and agents of the year and the century. Cristiano Ronaldo bagged the top honour, the Player of the Century award (2001 - 2020) beating his arch-rival Lionel Messi.

After winning the award, CR7 tweeted “Couldn’t be happier with tonight’s award! As I’m about to celebrate my 20th year as a professional footballer, Globe Soccer Player of The Century is a recognition that I receive with so much joy and pride!”

The Men’s Player of the Year award has been presented to Polish footballer Robert Lewandowski for his incredible performance in the year 2020. This is the first time when he won this honour.
