Born on 3rd October 1945, Viktor Danilovich Saneyev is a retired athlete who has participated in several national as well as international competitions of triple jumping and added many feathers in his cap.
In 1963, Saneyev secured the third position in his first All-Union competition.
Viktor won 3 Olympic gold medals in the year 1968 in Mexico, 1972 in Munich and 1976 in Montreal, Canada, respectively.
In 1968, he won the USSR Championship, held in Alma-Ata (present-day Kazakhstan) and Summer Olympics, held in Mexico City
On 17th October 1968, at Summer Olympics, held in Mexico, he set a World Record twice: to 17.23 m and 17.39 m.
On 17th October 1972, at the Summer Olympics, held in Sukhumi, he broke his record and made a new one of 17.44 m.
Viktor won at the 1969 and 1974European Championships which were held at the Karaiskaki Stadium in Athens, Greece and Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy.
He also earned a silver medal in the Olympics of 1980 which was held in Moscow, Soviet Union.
