Layne Collette Beachley was born on 24th May 1972. She is a former professional surfer from Manly, New South Wales. At present, she is one amongst the four vice presidents of the International Surfing Association.
The first woman to win seven world championships in surfing during the years 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2006
Honored with the Australian Sports Medal in 2000 for her consecutive success at the world Surfing Championship of 1998 and 1999
Received the Laureus World Alternative Sportsperson of the Year Award in 2004
In the year 2005, Teen Choice chose her as the Extreme Female Athlete of the Year
Inducted into the Surfer’s Hall of Fame in 2006 at the Huntington Beach, California
Her name was inducted into the Australian Sports Hall of Fame in the year 2011
Awarded the Officer of the Order of Australia in the year 2015
