Kavita Tungar is an Indian long-distance runner from Sawarpada, Nasik was born in a tribal family on 5th May 1985. She presently works at ONGC and has acclaimed quite a few records in her bourgeoning career.

In 2009, became thecurrent Indian national record holder in the 10 km Road running event held by the Sunfeast World in Bangalore with timings of 34 min 32 seconds and securedBronzeat theAsian Athletics Championshipheld in China
In 2010, wonBronze in the10000m eventwith a timing of33:05:28 at theCommonwealth Gamesheld in New Delhi which was thefirst individual track medal by an Indian Woman Athlete in the Commonwealth Games and won Silver with a timing of 31:51:44in the10000m Race event at the Asian Games, China. giving her personal best of running career
2011- Record wins at the 2011National Games in India in both 5000m and 10000m Race events
2012- Received the distinguished Arjuna award
2015- Honored with Suvarnaratna award
2016- Qualified for Marathon Road event at the Rio Olympics, and finished in 120th place with a timing of 2 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds
