Charles Frederick "Karch" Kiraly, born on 3rd November 1960, is an American volleyball player who is regarded as one of the greatest male volleyball players in the history of the sport. At present, he is a coach of the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball team.

Kiraly’s career at a glance:-

• Kiraly is the only volleyball player to have won Olympic gold medals in both indoor and beach volleyball events.
• The Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) honored Kiraly as the “Greatest Volleyball Player of the 20th Century".
• He gained a silver medal at the 1986 Goodwill Games, held in Moscow.
• Kiraly gave his profound contribution to his team in winning gold medal at the 1986 World Championship which was held in France.
• He was selected twice as the Best Player in the World by FIVB in 1986 and 1988.
• Along with his team, he won Olympic gold medals at the Summer Olympics of 1984 and 1988 which were held in Los Angeles and Seoul, respectively.
• In beach volleyball, he bagged a gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics, held in Atlanta.
• Won the title of "AVP (American Volleyball Professionals) Comeback Player of the Year" in 1997
• Kiraly was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2001.
• He was conferred with the AVP Outstanding Achievement Award in 2004
