Born on 14th October 1981, Gautam Gambhir is a well-known Indian former cricketer, who predominately participated in international events to contribute his best to achieve victory for the nation. He had captained the team Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
His achievements:-
- He received the prestigious "Arjuna Award" in the year 2008 for his astounding performances in the sport
- In 2009, he was ranked No.1 batsman in ICC Test rankings as well as won the title of the "ICC Test Player of the Year".
- Under Gambhir's captaincy, the Kolkata Knight Riders won their IPL title in 2012 and in 2014
- Gambhir was a key member of the Indian team that played 2007 ICC World Twenty20, held in South Africa and won the event defeating Pakistan in the finals.
- In 2010, Gambhir was appointed the captain of the national team in ODI series against New Zealand which was hosted by India. He scored 150 in the 4th match in Kolkata to help India win the series.
