Emil Zatopek was born on 19th September 1922. He was a gold medalist long-distance runner from Czechoslovak. He was considered as one of the greatest runners of the 20th century and his brutally tough training methods were well known.
Accomplishments:-
- Won gold in 10,000 meters and silver in 5,000 meters in the 1948 London Olympic Games
- Won a gold medal in European Athletics Championships, held in Brussels in 1950 for the 5,000 meters run and 10000 meters run
- Won three gold medals at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki for 5000 meters, 10000 meters and the Marathon repectively
- Was awarded the Pierre de Coubertin medal in 2000
- His name was inducted into the IAAF Hall Of Fame in 2012.
