Ankur Dhama was born on July 7th, 1994 in Khekra (a small village in Uttar Pradesh). At the age of 4, he started suffering a serial loss in his eye vision. After turning 5, Ankur has gone in complete darkness in his eye vision. He moved to Delhi and attended the JPM Senior Secondary School for the Blind which was suggested by his doctor. After that, he passed out from the school with meritorious grades and enrolled in the renowned St. Stephen’s College, at the same time pursuing his passion for the sport. Ankur trains under his coach Dr. Satyapal Singh, who picks and drops him after practice. For the rest of the things, he is completely independent. In 2016, he represented the country for the very first time in Paralympic Games where he competed against the world’s best athletes in Rio.
