Competitors can use any stroke to propel themselves through the water. Players can also tread water or float.
A competitor is required to wear a swim cap provided by the LOC at all times during the swimming event.
The wetsuits with a thickness exceeding 5 mm are not allowed.
The athletes cannot wear any artificial propulsion or floatation devices, gloves, socks, snorkels, headphones, or any safety inflatable devices.
A competitor is judged as "finished," when any part of the torso, excluding the head, neck, shoulders, arms, legs, reaches the perpendicular line extending from the leading edge of the finish line.
During the competition, only the items used for the competition are allowed to place inside the transition area.
The players are not allowed to run barefoot on the racing tracks. All the players are required to wear a swim cap and goggles in the transition area.
