The Vincennes Hippodrome de Paris, also known as Vincennes Racecourse, has been the home of horse racecourse for almost 150 years in Paris, France. The racecourse is situated on the edge of Bois de Vincennes, to the east of the capital. The ground is also used for hosting various concerts, musical and cultural events and is regarded as one of the highly esteemed racecourses of the world. The racecourse track was initially built in the year 1863 after which, it was destroyed during the Franco-Prussian War and was again remodelled into the present form in 1879. It comprises two race tracks and has more than 150 stalls for the horses. The racecourse has an outer track length of 2,000 m and can accommodate 40,000 spectators.
Significance
- This race track has hosted performance of Popstar Michael Jackson in the year 1992.
- Other performers such as Genesis, Grateful Dead, Guns ‘N’ Roses, AC/DC, Elton John, U2, Queen, Underground, Monsters of Rock have also performed here in various concerts.
- Pink Floyd has performed here in the year 1972.
- Metallica has given an ecstatic performance along with "The Cult" and "Suicidal Tendencies" on 13th June 1993.
