The
Queensland Tennis Centre is a tennis venue, located in
Tennyson,
Brisbane,
Australia. The construction of the arena began in
2007 and was built by internationally recognized stadium designers
Mirvac Group's in-house architectural practice,
HPA Pty Ltd., and
HOK Sports. An estimated amount of
$82 million was spent for the construction of the arena. It was opened to the spectators on
2nd January 2009. The owner of the stadium is the
Queensland Government. The center court which is known as "
Pat Rafter Arena" has a capacity of
5,500 spectators and can extend up to
7,000. The main court includes a
PTFE glass fiber fabric roof. The
Pat Rafter Arena is a part of the Queensland Tennis Centre which has
23 different tennis courts in it.

The Pat Rafter Arena is named in honor of an Australian tennis hero Patrick Rafter who was the first man to win the Canada Masters in the Open era.

Since 2009, it has been the main hosting arena of all the significant international tennis tournaments, played in Brisbane.
