Principality Stadium is a multi-purpose stage, located in Cardiff, Wales. It is the second largest stadium in the world with a fully retractable roof and the second stadium in Europe having this feature. It was originally known as "Millennium Stadium", opened in 1999. The stadium mostly hosts rugby union and football matches and has also hosted national and international events such as Rugby World Cup, Heineken Cup, FA Cup and League Cup. It is the home ground of the Welsh Rugby Union, Football Association of Wales. Principality Stadium is built on the site of National Stadium in 1962. The four stands are called the North Stand, the West Stand, the South Stand, and the BT Stand. A bronze statue of Sir Tasker Watkins, former President, is erected outside the stadium. Apart from sporting events, it has also hosted live concerts of performers such as Tina Turner, U2, The Rolling Stones, Robbie Williams, The Police, Bon Jovi, Madonna, Paul McCartney and is also used for events like dinners, banquets, ball parties and weddings receptions.
