Newcastle Entertainment Centre is located in Newcastle Showground, New South Wales in Australia. It is a multi-purpose arena built in 1991. The construction took one year, and the arena opened its gate to the spectators on 21st June 1992. It is owned by the Venues NSW and operated by the AEG Ogden. This multi-purpose arena has served as the home for the Newcastle Falcons (NBL) from 1992 to 1999. They were the original tenants of the Newcastle Entertainment Centre that moved to the arena from their previous home ground, Broadmeadow Basketball Stadium. It was also the stamping ground for the Hunter Jaegers (CBT) from 1997 to 2008 and the Hunter Pirates (NBL) from 2003 to 2006.

Trivia

The Newcastle Entertainment Centre is famous for being one of Australia's most flexible multi-purpose stadiums. It hosts sports events, expos and other events throughout the year.

Significance

The arena served as the home ground for the Newcastle Rebels during the 1908 and the 1909 NSWRFL Premiership.
The Newcastle Entertainment Centre has also been the venue that has hosted the Motorcycle Speedway since the year 1926.
The arena hosted the Australian Solo Championships five times in a row.
It also played host to the Australian Sidecar Speedway Championship in the year 2010.
