The new national stadium of Tokyo is on the verge to be completely built for the upcoming 2020 Olympics and the Paralympics. It has been selected to serve host for the opening and closing ceremony of the Games. The old national stadium was completely demolished in May 2015, and the new construction began in December 2016. It has also been chosen to host the FIFA Women's World Cup matches of 2019.
On 17th July 2018, famous American singer Beyoncé performed in the arena as part of her On the Run II Tour. The arena counted the attendance of 33,662 spectators to attend the consort.
