The record jump at the Le Tremplin Olympique du Mont was made by Jason Lamy-Chappuis and Emmanuel Chedal, both from France. They made a record jump of 110 meters on 9th of February 2009 at the French Championship.
Le Tremplin Olympique du Mont is a Ski Jumping venue, located in Chamonix, France. It had hosted the 1924 Winter Olympics. The hill has long been used as the venue for cross-country skiing, ski jumping, and Nordic skiing (a combination of cross-country and ski jumping) events of several competitions. It has been a regular tourist spot frequented by many who love skiing. The Springboard, built in 1905 was renovated in 1998 to enhance the adventure of skiing.
Significance
- On 4th February 1924, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined events were conducted on the Springboard.
- This stadium was the venue for the 1937 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in which Norwegian ski jumper Birger Ruud won a gold medal. This was the first official FIS Nordic Ski Championship. A total of five events were held at the venue.
- Jumping events of the World Cup have been conducted here several times in the years 1981, 1985, 1986, 1989, 1995, and 1998.
- The events of Universiade competition were held at Le Tremplin Olympique du Mont in the year 1960.
- The Chamonix International competition had been held at this venue during the years 1967, 1969 and 1979. These events usually span over a week’s time, and hence the competition was called the Chamonix International Week.
- The United Nations Grand Prix events were held here in the years 1968, 1970, 1972, 1974 and 1976 and 1979.
