Khalifa International Stadium

The Khalifa International Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium, situated in Doha, Qatar. It is often referred as the 'National Stadium'. The stadium was opened to the spectators on 3rd March 1976 and underwent a renovation in the year 2005. Before the 2005 renovation, the Khalifa International Stadium was mainly used to host football matches. The Qatar Football Association owns the stadium. The entire field has natural grass and the venue can hold around 45,857 spectators. The Khalifa International Stadium is currently the home of the Qatar national football team. 

Khalifa International Stadium has played a central role in Qatar’s sporting history, hosting major athletics and football competitions over several decades. Its athletics programme has included the 2006 Asian Games, the 2011 Arab Games and the 2019 World Athletics Championships, while the venue has also hosted the Doha Diamond League. It is scheduled to serve as the athletics venue for the 2030 Asian Games.

The stadium has an equally extensive football history. It hosted the 1995 FIFA World Youth Championship, including the final, and later staged matches at the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, 2019 FIFA Club World Cup and 2022 FIFA World Cup. It was also among the venues for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, which was played in early 2024. In addition, Khalifa International Stadium has hosted editions of the Arabian Gulf Cup and has occasionally been used for the Emir of Qatar Cup final. The Khalifa international Stadium also hosted the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
