Free State Stadium is one of the six much-publicized sports venues of South Africa that predominantly hosts Rugby Union events. The venue also hosts football matches. Initially, the stadium was known as "Vodacom Park". The stadium was officially opened in 1995 and is managed by Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality. Free State Stadium is also known for having “Central Cheetahs” as their tenants that represent it in international Super Rugby competition.
