The Estadio Gigante de Arroyito is a soccer stadium, situated in Rosario, Argentina. The stadium was opened to spectators on 14th November 1926. It underwent renovation and remodelling in the year 1978. The Estadio Gigante de Arroyito is owned by the Club Atlético Rosario Central and operated by Central Rosario. The English translation for the name "Estadio Gigante de Arroyito" is "Giant Arroyito Stadium". The entire field has a natural grass surface. The stadium is used as the home ground by the local professional team Rosario Central. The Argentine soccer team also uses it. The Estadio Gigante de Arroyito was one of the sub-headquarters of the 1987 Copa America.
Significance
- First Phase, Group ‘C’ matches of the 1987 Copa America were held at the Estadio Gigante de Arroyito on 28th June, 1st July and 5th July.
- The Estadio Gigante de Arroyito hosted three First Round Group B matches and three Second Round Group 2 matches of the 1978 World Cup.
- The last match of the Rugby Championship of 2012 also took place here on 6th October. It was the last match of the legendary Argentine rugby player Rodrigo Roncero.
