The stadium is the largest continuous brick structure in the United States. Apart from this, it is the second largest brick structure in the world after the Great Wall of China.

A tradition revolves around a 19-foot bronze sculpture depicting Osceola and Renegade (the official mascots). Before each home game, the Marching Chiefs (the official band) play, Osceola’s spear is set to flame and all including students, alumni and fans gather to show their respect and support.
Bobby Bowden Field at the Doak Campbell Stadium, commonly referred as Doak S. Campbell Stadium is a football stadium, located on the campus of the Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. It is the home venue for the football team of the University, Seminoles. The stadium was named in honour of Doak S. Campbell, the President of the University at the time of the construction and the field was named after Bobby Bowden, the head coach of the then football team. The stadium is a part of the University Centre Complex. This 79,560 capacity stadium is counted as the twentieth largest stadium in the NCAA and the second largest in ACC. The stadium was opened on October 7 in 1950, after the construction span of four months.
Significance
- The stadium has hosted the first game against Randolph-Macon College Yellowjackets on October 7, 1950. The home team Seminoles won by 40-7.
- The nation’s largest 63-ft tall video board stands in the north end zone of the stadium.
- Bobby Bowden’s career comprises of 201 games out of which he won 166 games. His win percentage is 0.831.
- Bobby Bowden has a 54 game winning streak. It started in 1992 and ended in the first two games of 2001.
- On 20th November 2004, following an Act of Legislation the stadium and the field was renamed as the Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium.
