The competition is owned and managed by Scottish Women's Football (SWF), an affiliate of the Scottish Football Association (SFA) and is open to all senior teams affiliated with the SWF.
The Scottish Women's Cup, currently known as the SSE Scottish Women's Cup for sponsorship reasons, is an annual national knockout cup competition for Scottish women's football clubs. The defending champion is Glasgow City which won the tournament for the 9th time, beating Hibernian 4-3 in the 2019 finals. The competition first took place in 1971.
Significance / Memorable Moments
- The competition consists of a preliminary round and then six rounds of which the final is the last one. All twelve teams from the Scottish Women's Premier League enter the second round. Therefore, all other teams compete in the preliminary round or in the first round and so 40 teams play in the first round.
- Along with 20 winners, 12 Premier League teams also play the second round, round of 32. All rounds are played over a single leg format.
