The World Curling Federation (“WCF”) is the world governing body for the Olympic winter sport of Curling and the Paralympic winter sport of Wheelchair Curling. WCF is located in Perth, Scotland. It was framed out of the International Curling Federation ("ICF") when the push for Olympic Winter Sport status was made. The name was changed to World Curling Federation in 1990.
The ICF was founded in 1966 as a board of trustees of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club in Perth after the success of the Scotch Cup series of World Championships held among Canada and Scotland. In the beginning, it included the grouping of Scotland, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, and the United States. In the wake of its arrangement, it endorsed the World Curling Championships. The WCF as of now authorizes fifteen universal curling occasions. The WCF is overseen by eight Board Directors, one president, three VPs (one from each WCF provincial zone - Americas, Europe and Pacific-Asia) and six Board Directors. The six Board Directors should all originate from various part affiliations. WCF part affiliations choose all positions on the Board of Directors. A permanent staff of 20 workers bolsters the Board of Directors.
There are at present 67 member associations, with the most recent addition being the Kenya Curling Federation in 2021. The main aim of the body is to represent Curling Internationally and facilitate its growth throughout the world.
