The Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE), or World Chess Federation, is the world governing body of the sport of chess. Its responsibilities include organising world chess championships and forming the set of rules governing the game. The IOC also recognises it as the supreme body for organising chess championships, tournaments, and olympiads on a global level.
