The Throwball Federation of India was registered under the societies registration act XXI of 1860, in the year 1982. It governs all the national competitions, rules and regulation of throwball in India. The Indian Olympic Association considers the recognition of Throwball Federation of India in the year 2001. The Throwball Federation of India aims to include the game in the inter-universities sports activities calendar and also in the national games. After the formation of TFI and its first National Championship in India, it went popular among men, women and children of all ages. At present, around 22 states/territories units are affiliated with Throwball Federation of India.
