Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (The International Volleyball Federation) is the international governing body to overlook, maintain the sports. At present, it consists of 222 affiliated federations and governs all forms of volleyball and beach volleyball all across the world, conducting World Championships, Volleyball Nations League, World Cups, Grand Champions Cup and many other tournaments including the events for junior and young players.
Founded in France back in April 1947, FIVB is the outcome of some of the European national federations that demanded the establishment of an international governing body to develop and maintain the standards and regulations of the sport. Paul Libaud was the first President of the Association. The women's version of the tournament was introduced for the first n 1952, and the IOC welcomes the game as its part in 1964. Post the retirement of Libaud, FIVB's headquarter moved to Switzerland from France.
