On this day, 02 April 2011, India lifted the 2011 Cricket World Cup Final trophy. The match was played between India and Sri. Lanka and held in Mumbai, India. In which, the Indian cricket team turned victorious by six wickets. This was the second time when India grabbed the World Cup trophy after the 1983 tournament.
Sri Lanka won the toss, and captain Kumar Sangakkara chose to bat first. Sri Lanka stood at 274 runs tall while closing the innings.
In reply, MS Dhoni-led India chase the total and turned victorious with six wickets in hand. MS Dhoni took the man of the match title, and Yuvraj Singh was declared the tournament man.
