Recently in Iran, the restriction on women participation in powerlifting competitions is taken off by the officials. The female athletes are now free to participate in the powerlifting matches for the first time. It is a significant step taken to provide equality among men and women.

The Iranian Federation of Bodybuilding has announced that there will be an official team of women powerlifters that will be able to participate in the national and International official tournaments.
