Camel Racing originated from the 7th century CE Arabian Penninsula. People organised camel races on traditional occasions. Hosting informal competitions as part of the tradition kept on going in Arabia until the last three decades of the twentieth century when people started organising races on a formal basis. Organisations were founded to administer and control camel racing events and to formulate rules and regulations. After that, the popularity of camel racing soared high enough to make it a worldwide recognised sport.
