No. Of Rounds

There are three (for 17 years and older) or four (for juniors) two-minute rounds in amateur boxing, while nine to twelve three-minute rounds in professional boxing.

During Knockdown

If a boxer is knocked down, the referee will take his opponent to the neutral corner and begins the count to 10 and at the count of 8, decides whether to continue or terminate the bout or continue the count. If the knocked down boxer rises during the count, then the bout continues otherwise the opponent wins.

Foul

The violation of any of the rules is called a foul. In this situation, the referee may warn or disqualify the boxer or may deduct his points. Some fouls include-

• Hitting with the shoulder, head or elbow
• Hitting below the belt, kicking, tripping or pushing the opponent
• Hitting on the opponent’s lower back that can damage kidneys.
• Using offensive or aggressive language
• Spitting out the mouthpiece to get rest
• Holding and hitting the opponent at the same time.
