The Paycom Center is located in Oklahoma City, in the United States. It was formerly known as the Ford Center in between 2002 and 2010 and Oklahoma City Arena from 2010 to 2011, and Chesapeake Energy Arena from 2011 to 2021. It is currently the hometown of the "Oklahoma City Thunder" of the National Basketball Association, and NBA GLeague's Oklahoma City Blue. Earlier, it was the home ground for the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League and the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (AF2). The Arena is owned by the Oklahoma City operated by the ASM Global property management company. It has also temporarily served as home for the New Orleans Hornets of the National Basketball Association From 2005 to 2007.
Trivia
The Chesapeake Energy Arena is known as one of the loudest arenas in the NBA and the top of the arena is known as “Loud City”. The noise level at the first playoff game in the arena reached 109 decibel.
The arena was originally known as "Ford Center" according to the naming rights deal with the Oklahoma Ford Dealers group.
Significance
The 2007 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament took place in this arena and again held in 2009.
The Chesapeake Energy Arena has hosted many WWE events such as Raw, Smack Down and Unforgiven 2005. The professional wrestling television program “Raw” came to the arena along with Cheech and Chong (comedians), as guest hosts on 1st March 2010.
The NCAA Division 1 Wrestling Championship was held here in March 2014.
The Chesapeake Energy Arena hosted the NBA Finals for the first time in 2012. The Oklahoma City Thunder played against the Miami Heat for the league championships.
