The Patliputra Sports Complex (formerly known as Kankarbagh Sports Complex) is a multi-purpose stadium, located in Kankarbagh, Bihar. It was built in the year 2011 at the expenditure cost of Rs.19.98 Crores and finally opened its gate to the spectators on 1st March 2012. At present, the owner of the stadium is the Bihar State Sports Authority and the Directorate of Youth Welfare and Sports of Bihar. The sporting complex can hold around 20,000 spectators for various sports events. The tenant of the complex is Patna Pirates, one of the popular teams in the Pro-Kabaddi-League. The sports complex is noted for its infrastructure and the support it provides to women athletes.

Trivia

The first Women’s World Cup Kabaddi Championship was held here on the inaugural day of the complex.

Significance

The Patliputra Sporting Complex hosted the first World Women’s World Kabaddi Championship in which 16 teams competed from all around the world.
The sporting complex had also hosted seven matches of the Pro Kabaddi League starting from 7th of August to 10th of August in the year 2014.
In March 2012, the sporting complex hosted All India Federation Cup Wrestling tournament.
