Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, which is also known as the Marina Arena, is a multi-purpose stadium in Chennai, India. The stadium was constructed in an area where the old Madras Zoo was located. The field is predominantly used for football matches and athletic competitions and is named after Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister. The stadium is within a complex which also houses a multipurpose indoor stadium for table tennis, basketball and volleyball sports. Tamil Nadu State football team as well as Chennaiyin FC are the tenants of the stadium that plays in the Santosh Trophy matches and in the Indian Super League (ISL), respectively. Besides this, there are other facilities such as air-conditioned Indoor Warm-up Track, separate halls for Judo, Chess, Carrom, Weightlifting, Table Tennis and Boxing events. There are also separate courts for Beach Volleyball, Volleyball (with floodlight), Throwball and Kabaddi along with centres for Fitness and Shooting Range. When there is no game scheduled for a day, the stadium is open to the public for holding functions and concerts.
