The Hungaroring is a motorcycle circuit in Hungary where the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix is held every year. Officially opened in 1986, it has a capacity of 70,000. It was built in eight months, taking lesser time than any other Formula One circuit. perated by the Hungaroring Sport Zrt, the circuit covers a length of 4,381 km (2.722 miles) and has 14 turns.

Trivia

This is the circuit where the first Formula One Grand Prix behind the Iron Curtain (a boundary that divided Europe into two parts from 1945 to 1991) was held.

Significance

The first race at the circuit took place on 24th March 1986 which was conducted in memory of János Drapál, the first Hungarian who won a motorcycle Grand Prix race.
The Hungaroring saw several famous races such as the duels of Nelson Piquet and Ayrton Senna.
Hungaroring has crowned two drivers in its 20-year history when Nigel Mansell and Michael Schumacher won the World Championship title in 1992 and 2001, respectively.
In 2006, Jenson Button won the track's first ever wet Grand Prix.
The circuit has also hosted the DTM and FIA GT Championship races besides the Formula One.
Michael Schumacher holds the fastest lap record of 1:19.071 for this track, set in the year 2004.
On 25 July 2009, in the second qualifying round for the Hungarian Grand Prix at Hungaroring, Ferrari driver Felipe Massa's head was injured while driving at high speed. He was knocked unconscious and subsequently crashed with a tyre barrier.
