Located near Gros Islet, the northern tip of Saint Lucia, the Beausejour Cricket Ground is currently known as the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground that has been hosting international cricket events since its inception in 2002. It was named as Beausejour Cricket Ground after the Beausejour hills. It hosts domestic matches of Windward Islands cricket team. The field is located in the driest area of Saint Lucia which gives the stadium the most applicable conditions to host cricket events. The ground was renamed as the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in 2016 to honour the great cricketer of West Indies, Darren Sammy who lead the national squad to win many international triumphs.
Trivia
In 2006, the stadium became the first international ground in the Caribbean region to have the facility of floodlighting, enabling the field to host day-night matches.
Significance
The stadium hosted its first international Test match in 2003.
In 2006, India made its highest Test score of 588-8 on the field against West Indies.
The stadium has hosted the 6 Group C matches and the second semi-final of 2007 Cricket World Cup.
